The Office (Details)

Date: April 19, 2024

It has been a delightful labor of love bringing this office space together. The positive power of my perfectionism was harnessed to encourage a high standard and intentionality behind each product coming into this space. I wanted the best of the best to be here because studies show your physical environment can be a powerful influence on how you feel.

And trust me, you feel it when you get here. I’ve had numerous clients tell me this space feels so cozy when they arrive. And THAT, my friends, is the biggest compliment I could ask for.

Below are the website links and/or social media handles of the folks and businesses where I purchased or located these items. I’m not affiliated or sponsored by anyone (but if anyone wants to sponsor me, holla at me!). The researcher in me felt it was important to ‘cite my sources’ by providing this information, plus it’s a way to show my love and appreciation for the talents of these businesses that brought my vision to life.

Whenever possible I tried to purchase items that were local and/or Canadian businesses. Please check them out and send them some love!

My Desk

Let’s start with the products at ‘my desk’. My little office within my office.

  • Custom frames of my MSW degrees and BCCSW registration by Michaels. I told myself this was a gift from me to me to get custom frames for these documents since they I wouldn’t be able to do the job I do without them. Mischief managed.

  • Artwork by SunlightAfterDark. They are based in Alberta and their instagram handle is @sunlightafterdark

  • Code of Ethics by the CASW. I have this here for full transparency- you can see what I’m ethically allowed to do or not do. Plus it’s a daily reminder to me of how I approach the work I do. Fun Fact: every year as part of our professional development social workers in BC have to review the ethics and do at least 3 hours of ethics-related learning. That way it’s fresh in our minds for the next year and we’re up to date on any changes that occur.

  • Diffuser & Essential oils gifted to me by Saje - so grateful!

THE Counselling Couch. You just KNOW I spared no expanse for this section.

  • Custom designed couch by Lfurniture based here in Kelowna!

  • Art by Jolene Mackie (the one on the far right and left) based in Kelowna and their instagram handle is: @jolene.mackie.art. They are also based in Kelowna.

  • Art by Elenka (the middle image). Their instagram handle is @e.lenka.art. Another Kelowna artist!

The space between.

  • Table from Lion & Raine Antiques Furniture- SO sad to learn they are out of business :( The owner was a man from Turkey who offered to clean the table and paint it white for me at no cost. THIS kind of service is why you support local!

  • Coasters from PhoenixArtsCA on etsy. Also based in Kelowna

  • Lamps from marketplace (we love a thrifty moment), When I told the buyer that their lamp (the gold on the left) is going in my therapy office she was so delighted to hear it! She said she hopes it contributes to the good vibes

My chair, but on occasion the client will sit there too.

  • Little dinos on their little dino-sized couch: by Lion & Raine Antiques Store.

  • Artwork of the mountain by SunlightAfterDark (click on links provided above).

  • Artwork of the minimalist drawing by Joel Adam. His instagram handle is @joeladam.arts and he is based in Paris, Ontario

  • Artwork of the stunning purple flowers by Arlene Buick. An artist based in Kelowna. She doesn’t have social media handles or a webby but you can learn more about her work through the Okanagan Artists Coalition.

  • Cute mug was a gift from my partner that he purchased downtown at Funktional.

The Knick Knack Shelf. The place where clients can rest their eyes and get lost in all the little details if they need a little ‘eye-contact’ break. From Top to Bottom:

I look forward to having you in this space sometime :)
